Putting Genetics to Work
Kia ora koutou katoa.
It is an honour for me to have joined the Gemnetics team as Managing Director, effective from 1 July 2020.
I have previously worked with the Gemnetics team in my capacity as a Director and Consultant at AbacusBio and have been impressed by their enthusiasm and passion for the plant breeding industry.
As our international markets change, plant breeding has been identified as a highly viable and exciting sector for growth. A big part of my new role will be to work alongside clients to embrace new, and innovative ways of thinking and then apply these ideas within the Gemnetics software products and services.
Since finishing my Master’s degree in Applied Science at Lincoln University, I have led and engaged with international teams to grow AbacusBio’s expertise in agri-technology. My primary focus to date has been on livestock genetics and on-farm emissions and I have worked with a wide range of private and public clients within this sector. I have also led the development of many of AbacusBio internal project and product management systems and am excited about the opportunity to bring these skills and experience to the Gemnetics team.
I am grateful to my predecessor and Gemnetics co-founder Dr Sue Carson, for bringing us to where we are today. I look forward to building upon her essential contribution to plant breeding in New Zealand.
I am very excited about what’s to come.
